Natto is a traditional Japanese food and is commonly eaten for breakfast in Japan. Natto is made from soybeans fermented by natto bacillus, and is sticky with a strong smell and taste. In addition, natto contains a fibrinolytic enzyme called nattokinase. Nattokinase is reported to reduce and prevent blood clots. Therefore, it is said that eating natto can prevent heart attacks and strokes. However, people who take medicines such as warfarin need to avoid eating natto. Please consult your physician for further information. If you don't have a soy allegy, try eating natto often! Usually natto is eated uncooked, but there are many recipes that can improve the flavor while still imparting the nutritional value.
